Jaira Williams, Pretty Mink’d Out
Q. How did you start within the profession you’re currently in & how long have you been it?
I launched my brand Pretty Mink’d Out June of 2018. The process before my brand came from a place in life I was at that time. I was at a point of healing, regaining myself and learning me. I wanted to use what I’ve learned and the process I went through to send out inspiration and motivation to others and with that I created a brand I was interested in and could also send those messages through with a product that many females use. That’s how I created our motto of “Inspiring Beyond the Eye of Beauty.”
Q. What is your inspiration that keeps you thriving?
The inspiration to keep me thriving is my love and passion for helping women look good and feel good about themselves. My inspirations that keeps me thriving is the reaction I get from my brand. I’m rarely new to the beauty industry as well as being and entrepreneur but the feedback I get it’s great. It amazes me to hear how I speak on something I’ve went through and others are going through it currently and needed to here what I said or they’re at the realization point of what needs to happen in their life to gain their peace. That inspires me to dig deep within and understand myself to express my messages clearly.
The hardest part of being and entrepreneur is me being a full time Soldier. I’m a Noncommissioned Officer in the US Army and that within itself is a lifestyle. You have to be focused and knowledgeable all while learning new things everyday, taking care of soldiers and being responsible for equipment etc . You never know what time or when your going to be at a certain place and that within itself affects planning. For me I’ve learned to take it for what it is as long as I’m in the organization but it does play a big role when your trying to be an entrepreneur and have a passion for your business. You just have to stay focused and make it look easy!
Q: What has been your biggest achievement thus far, that you’re most proud of?
My biggest achievement that I’m most proud of is the moment I realized I needed to reevaluate myself. The moment I realized I needed to learn why I did certain things and how to change them to better me. Once I realized that and started working on myself as a whole, alone, focused and unashamed; So much came from that, my business ideas, my book I’ve been working on for years, everything shifted in my life and my mind set and for that I’m most proud of what came out of me searching into myself.
Q: What would you say makes you Pretty & Powerful? What do most call on you for? (your superpower)
To me the things that makes me Pretty & Powerful is the fact that I can juggle a lot of things and still keep going. Meaning a lot of things in life that I’ve overcame still followed me and that kind of weighed me down for awhile I just never showed it. Now I’m able to handle those things as well as be the best NCO I can be in the Army, build a brand with a purpose and also work on becoming a best selling author.
Most people call on me for help honestly lol. I mean not always financial but just to talk and I listen, I stop giving my opinion ok things a long time ago because I don’t want to get involved to deeply in a situation that is not my place to be in. When most people talk to me I naturally have a way of answering or responding to me I’m just talking but to them it’s helping them in a way to realize what they needed to. The way I look at things is that God reveals certain things to us and once it’s time for it to be released it’s always right on time. When I speak it’s me releasing what was already revealed to me I just didn’t know how it when I would use it. That I feel is my superpower!
Q. What advice would you give to someone that may be aspiring to enter into the profession or industry you’re in?
Any advice I have for someone wanting to be in the Military, start a Beauty brand or any brand at all is to do your research! Read and make yourself knowledgeable on what your trying to do, have a interest in it and just follow your heart. You will always run into trial and error but those are all learning experiences and you will grow from them. Keep God in everything you do that will take you further then your imagination ever will.
Q: On a transparent level, name a moment when you almost gave up on your success journey, but found the momentum & power to move forward?
I started researching eyelashes and ran into a lot of things in America that just were to costly. Never did I think to research and look overseas. Before I figured my mane source of vendors to start sampling I was really aggravated. I had to spend money and hope it wasn’t going to waste, I became discouraged when I couldn’t find the things I needed in the amount I was willing to pay. I remember taking a few days and then getting back on the computer looking up different videos m on YouTube learning what to search and look for when starting a business and from that information and my researching I struck gold.
Q. What projects are you working on; that you can share & where do you see yourself in the next 3-5 years?
My current project is my Novel “The Story of Strength.” It will be launching this year and I’m most excited about that! My brand will continue to grown within our collections and I hope to be able to vend at events and eventually speak at events as well about my brand and just experience in life as a whole. In 3-5 years I see myself having 2 novels on the book market, my beauty products in stores and other business as well. Just having a wider market in different areas around the world.
Q: In closing what Powerful profound message would you leave to other fellow Pretty & Powerful females climbing the ladder to success?
My message to all females is GO FOR IT! if it’s on you and on your heart do it! Pray about it, focus on you to align yourself and your mind will open so much that it will scare you at the Visions you will have about your life and the purpose God has for you! Write your goals and pray about them don’t stop until you “Make Your Visions Visible.”
