Pretty & Powerful: Melody Laney
Melody Laney, 37,
KaPar Innovative Services LLC
Q: How and when did you learn you wanted to become an Entrepreneur?
I always knew a 9-5 in my industry was not going to allow me to leave the kind of legacy I dreamed of for my children. I knew that I would have to build a brand. I pondered on starting a boutique and other things. Then I asked myself what do you love? What are you passionate about? My when happened randomly after shopping with smaller businesses I saw a need for my passion. I said to myself; Melody, you love customer service. You are passionate about it so why not teach others and help them grow their brand. This is the idea that started KaPar.
Q: What is your inspiration, your why that keeps you thriving?
My children are my biggest source of inspiration so much so that I named my brand after them, Kalie and Parker. I want to make them proud while showing them to never settle. My husband and siblings are a big source of inspiration as well.
Q: What has been your biggest achievement thus far, that you’re most proud of?
Legitimizing my brand is my proudest achievement thus far. To see my idea, evolve into a concept and then into a service that provides another source of income is quite the accomplishment. I am excited to see the moment that replaces this one.
Q: What would you say makes you Pretty & Powerful? What separates you apart from everyone else in your area of expertise?
Being pretty, I get it from my mama! No, just kidding. I love to laugh! But being pretty is so much more than physical for me. My pretty is being humble, kind and just plain nice. What makes me powerful is my ability to relate to others even though I may not have endured the same obstacles. Life has taught me compassion and understanding. My ambition, determination and perseverance I rely on these characteristics daily. What separates me from everyone else is ME!!! Not in an arrogant way but I come with over 17 years of experience working for fortune 500 companies. Not to mention my desire to see small business owners win and reach new levels.
Q. What has been the hardest part of what you do, that you make look pretty easy?
OMG! I really dislike public speaking or being in the spotlight. But I tell myself every day to be present on social media allows the world to see who I am. Most people would never know this.
Q. What advice would you give to someone that may be aspiring to enter into the profession or industry you’re in?
Check yourself daily, in this industry you must make sure you align with your brand. Teaching people how to treat others requires you to treat others well both personally and professionally. Enjoy and trust the process I am constantly tweaking and changing things as my business develops.
Q: On a transparent level, name a moment when you almost gave up on your success journey, but found the Momentum & power to move forward?
I really never wanted to give up but more so delaying my process by waiting on the perfect time. If 2020 taught us nothing else, it taught us that anything can happen. This pandemic gave me what I needed to power to push forward. Everyone was talking about supporting small businesses to keep them afloat during this time. Then I realized now is the perfect time I have to help my people retain their customers.
Q. What projects are you working on; that you can share & Where do you see yourself in the next 3-5 years?
I am currently working on my 1st series of virtual training's and really thinking about doing a podcast along with a couple other things. In the next 3-5 years I see KaPar Innovative Services LLC being the go to for customer service training's in the southern region and working on a plan with SBA.GOV to provide our services as part of their plan your business services. Big Things are sure to come!
