Name: Cholie Patrice George Age: 34 Job Title: Makeup Artist of Kolóur Me BeÜtifL By Cholie Patrice. Education: • Master Cosmetologist • Master Educator (Cosmetology Instructor)
How did you break into your industry or get started? As an adolescent I loved to experiment on my hair & makeup. My mom was a Jazzy lady (R.I.P) I absorbed it all in & it seemed to come naturally for me also! We went to church all the time, from sun up to sun down lol. On one Sunday in particular a lady approached my mom. She asked "who does your daughter's hair & makeup"? ..... Of course mama she said "she does" !! This lady offered me a FREE scholarship to her beauty school at the early age of 16. After years of doing hair for all my friends, family & clients I discovered my love for Makeup Artistry in 2011. It seemed to take over. I put doing hair to the side & went full throttle into makeup. I still dabble in hair every now & then, but makeup is my baby. *Special thanks the School Owner Mrs. Rosa Pryor for seeing my greatness at such a young age. She became my School Instructor, Mentor & Friend. We are still close to this very day. She still pushes me to go higher!! Her Beauty School is KVN Beauty Academy in Dublin, Ga.*
What or who is your inspiration?
My Biggest inspiration will always be my mother. She always believed in me. She put me in that SAME beauty school twice for Cosmetology & Master Educator (Cosmetology Instructor). Now that she's gone I'm obligated to make her proud & create my own legacy. I'm also inspired by Marianne Williamson's famous poem "Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure". *This poem speaks volumes & gives me that extra push to keep going.*
What has been the hardest part of what it is you do?
The hardest part is remaining focused when clients aren't as plentiful. I call it low peak season. During this time I create new artwork, come up with new ways of branding & building my business.
What has been your biggest achievements thus far?
By BIGGEST achievement has to be getting my Instructor License. During that phase I had to quit school to take care of my mother until her passing. After that I got in an abusive relationship. OMG so many things happened from 2010 until last year. It was definitely a period of lessons & growth. I finally completed the Instructor course & Stateboard September 2016.
What advice would you give to someone aspiring to enter your industry or area of expertise?
My advice would be to get in the environment of that which you are trying to achieve. Find a mentor who is willing to guide & teach you. Study the greats & people who are succeeding in your field already. Stay positive about your vision, continue education & don't give up.
What projects are you working on (that you can share)?
Right now I'm working on a Digital Makeup Look Book. This project will have different categories of makeup styles. I want to make it easier for my clients to choose their desired look for ANY occasion.
Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
In 5 years I will have my own Accredited Beauty Academy teaching students who have a sincere passion & desire to be professionals in the beauty industry. I will also expand into a Spa offering all beauty services. I want to hire students who are fresh out of Beauty School & give them a chance to get experience in the industry & to build clientele. It's not easy jumping out there so I want to give them what I didn't get.
